I used to frown upon people that still paid for everything with cash. I felt like they were technologically challenged and were scared of change. However, people that pay with cash go over budget less than others. When you can swipe a card the money doesn’t always seem real. You feel you can go over budget and just move funds around from another bucket. However, when you see cash leaving your hand it makes you second guess purchase decisions because when you are out you are out. I started paying for my fast food, groceries, and fun activities with cash and it decreased my over spending in those areas tremendously. Cash keeps you honest because you can’t physically spend what you don’t have.
